If you’ve ever tried to apply for leave in most HR systems, you know the drill. First, you pick if it’s a full day or half day from one dropdown. Then, if it’s a half day, another dropdown appears to ask which half. And if you’re unlucky, there’s even more steps for short or hourly leave.
That means too many clicks, too many dropdowns, and too much confusion—especially when you’re in a rush. I personally felt this pain when I tried to apply for just a half-day leave. What should’ve been a 10-second task turned into a small headache.
So, I thought—why not make this simpler?
Instead of multiple dropdowns, I introduced visual icons for each type of leave:

With just one glance and one click, you know what you’re selecting. No extra steps, no “which half?” dropdown popping up, no wasted time.
This approach reduces clicks, removes confusion, and feels closer to how we naturally think about leave—quickly and visually.
At the end of the day, applying for leave shouldn’t feel like filling out a tax form. It should be as easy as tapping an icon, and you’re done.
